1989 (#19) - Ridge's indecision and marriage proposal to Caroline

In spite of Caroline's willingness, who finally frees herself from her marriage with Thorne and hopes to finally reunite with Ridge, the man is unable to decide between her and Brooke. Brooke, meanwhile, having recovered from the emotional shock caused by her abortion, is more determined than ever not to let the man slip away, but this time she finds a fierce Stephanie as her firm opponent, who this time openly sides with Caroline. And when Stephanie provokes the girl, telling her that Ridge could never have chosen her and preferred her to the love of his life, the two almost come to blows, with Brooke accusing the woman to stop interfering and conditioning her son. More conflicted than ever, Ridge is eventually forced to admit that he can't marry either woman. Donna, in order to cheer up Caroline, arranges a date for Brooke with her sports doctor Doug Sprain; and so does Bill to cheer up his daughter, introducing him to one of his co-workers Dylan Smith, with whom he agrees to go out to dinner. Curiously, Brooke and Caroline find themselves table neighbors right before the eyes of Ridge and Thorne, who were taking advantage of the evening to clear their heads and address all their misunderstandings. When Caroline and Brooke both receive a letter from "Mr. Forrester," asking them to meet, they are both thrilled that Ridge has chosen them; however, it was Thorne who sent them the message, asking them to remain friends no matter what Ridge decides. In the meantime, Ridge, not knowing what to do, decides to ask his father for advice, who suggests him to choose not the person he loves the most, but the one who makes him happiest. In the end, Ridge finds the strength and courage to make a decision. Ridge organizes a romantic candlelight dinner for Caroline, professes his love to her and asks her to become Mrs. Forrester. The woman, who can't believe that her dream of love is finally about to be crowned, accepts touched before giving in to a passionate kiss.

1989 (#14) - Deveney's desire for revenge and infatuation with Thorne

Immediately after the car accident with Todd, a bystander rescued Deveney from the wreckage. But before help arrived, Deveney had brutally killed her own rescuer with a boulder and, after dragging her into the car, had blown it up along with Todd's body, in such a way as to make it appear that she was the dead woman. For a long time hovering between life and death, she finally saves herself by waking up from her coma state. However, this episode does not leave the woman without consequences, as she was completely disfigured by the explosion. Released from the hospital a few months later, an unrecognizable Deveney goes to Los Angeles with a single goal: to take revenge on the Forrester family. In her crazy mind, in fact, Deveney considers Stephanie the only one responsible for all her misadventures and is determined to punish her by taking away what she has most precious, her son Ridge, who has always been suspicious of her. But if the crazy plan is to kill Ridge, Deveney does not intend to stain herself with blood at all; it would have been Thorne, in fact, to do so, convinced that her brother's hatred towards Ridge has never really gone away and is only latent waiting to be unleashed again. Thorne, meanwhile, is facing a difficult time following his divorce with Caroline and finds a great friend in Donna. In order to keep in touch with Thorne, Deveney is hired by Sally as a presenter, announcer and spokesperson for Spectra, and succeeds in the auditions to win over the much better prepared Fawn Cumberland, who is locked by Deveney in the dressing room right at the moment of her test. In the meantime, Deveney spends a lot of time with the man, discovering a sweet and unexpected side of him; for the first time, in fact, Deveney feels that a man genuinely cares about her and ends up starting to have feelings for him. However, Deveney doesn't understand that Thorne doesn't really have any loving feelings for her and that, rather, the guy feels a genuine and sincere compassion for the woman, forced to live with the signs of the accident. Thorne himself, however, is meanwhile getting very close to Donna; and their dating only makes Deveney jealous, who in her crazy mind begins to feel betrayed by Thorne.

1989 (#12) - The marriage between Bill and Margot

Despite the fact that Mick's return seems to have put a damper on Kristen and Margot's marriage, Margot's expectations are not being realized exactly as she had hoped. In fact, although Mick and Kristen spend a lot of time together, Clarke doesn't seem jealous of the man at all, confident that his marriage is rock solid despite Margot's constant jibes. And although Clarke himself gets very close to Margot, happy that the man is beginning to be more and more a part of Mark's life and that he recognizes him as his son, the woman realizes that her future with Clarke is almost impossible. The man in fact, with whom Margot has the opportunity to confront at length during the hospitalization of little Mark due to a strong flu, makes the woman understand several times that he is very attached to the child but does not love her, which is why he can not imagine their future together. And whether it's a real lack of feelings, or a simple personal interest in wanting to remain tied to a Forrester, it makes little difference to Margot: Clarke must be forgotten once and for all. Finding herself melancholically alone and with a son to raise, Margot finds the only shoulder to cry on and vent her disappointments in Bill, who is also back from the bitter experience with Donna. Bill and Margot find themselves dating again and enjoying each other's company, but nothing makes Margot suspect what Bill has in mind. The proposal, therefore, arrives completely unexpected, and in front of a beautiful engagement ring, Margot can not say no. The news of the impending marriage leaves everyone speechless, but the only one who doesn't seem to be happy is Caroline, who is convinced that this idea is just her father's madness. After Caroline decides to move back in with her father, mainly to keep Margot under control, Bill and Caroline have a long discussion about the pros and cons of such a drastic decision, which obviously includes the consequence of taking on the responsibilities and commitments that come with taking care of a child; but in the end Bill manages to convince Caroline that there is a true and sincere feeling between him and Margot, which is the only thing that matters. And at her mother Marion's grave, on which Caroline spends much of her time to find comfort and advice, the girl admits her fear that Bill may have forgotten her and that Margot only wants to use him; but in the end she also finds the strength and confidence to welcome Margot into their family. To tell the truth, Margot hopes until the last moment that Clarke will intervene to stop the wedding, but this does not happen. And in the beautiful setting of an outdoor chapel overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Margot and Bill exchange their wedding vows, declaring their love for each other.

1989 (#11) - Thorne's psychiatric sessions and the divorce with Caroline

In spite of Caroline's adamant intention to end her marriage with Thorne, a union that never really blossomed because of the feelings that never disappeared that binds the woman to Ridge, Eric and Stephanie firmly oppose the divorce. And it is Ridge himself, who is also engaged with Brooke, a woman whom Stephanie herself has often shown she does not like, if only because she is Beth's daughter, who finds the insistence of her parents that Thorne and Caroline must remain together disconcerting. Aware that they can no longer keep the matter a secret, Eric and Stephanie reveal to their eldest son that it was Thorne who shot him. An incredulous Ridge can't believe that his brother could have done this to him, but Eric and Stephanie try to justify it by reminding him that Thorne was under the effect of drugs amplified by alcohol and that, after all, he was in a state of shock caused by Ridge's own questionable actions. But without now wanting to reopen this old wound and go looking for a culprit, Eric and Stephanie explain to Ridge their fear that a new hard blow to Thorne, such as a possible divorce from Caroline, could lead him again to commit unconscionable acts. Understanding at this point the gravity of the situation and the importance of avoiding new traumas for Thorne, Ridge convinces Caroline to keep her marriage intact, at least for the time necessary for Thorne to digest what has happened. It is at this point that she agrees to take her time and suspend the divorce proceedings; but in the same way, she insists to Eric and Stephanie on the importance of Thorne overcoming this mental block through the professional help of a psychiatrist. Soon, by leading Thorne to believe that she is a marriage counselor, Dr. Michelle Brookrner begins a series of therapy sessions to help Thorne understand the futility and harmfulness of continuing a broken marriage. Soon, the man begins to open his eyes and gradually distance himself from Caroline, until he agrees to her request for divorce. On the other hand, Ridge assures his brother that he is not the reason why Caroline is leaving him, declaring himself totally involved with Brooke; and this despite the fact that things are not exactly like that, since the couple formed by Ridge and Brooke, after the latter's abortion, is now immersed in a deep crisis.

1989 (#10) - The discovery of Jamie's identity, the end of the flirtation of Donna and Bill

Exhausted and under stress from the events and scandals that have involved him, Bill agrees with Caroline that he needs a break and to relax with a vacation. And so, wanting to distract himself and cultivate his relationship with Jamie, he surprisingly invites the girl on a trip to Europe with him. Donna, more and more afraid that Bill might find out everything, nervously accepts the invitation fearing that her refusal might make the man suspicious; an invitation that, after all, makes her very happy both because she has the opportunity to discover new places never seen before and because she can finally be alone with the man who fascinates her more and more. Not at all happy with this news, however, appears a disconsolate Nick, who feels more and more cut off from the life of Donna, despite the reassurances of the latter. In the meantime, Rocco, who has definitively broken off all relations with Katie, who has become more and more involved with Kurt, suggests to Nick that he try to find out what information Bill actually knows about the scandal that has involved him, in order to better understand if they are really risking to be discovered. Through the waitress at Griffey's who is a friend of Rocco and Donna's, Stacy, who agrees to help them by posing as a masseuse, Nick is able to understand that Bill is now on their trail. The variable that shatters Nick and Donna's hopes of getting away with it is, as often happens, the unpredictable, in this case Caroline, who notices that Bill's masseuse, Stacy, works in the club frequented by Rocco and Donna, Bill's new model with whom he seems to have a lot of chemistry; and so, when Caroline unwittingly and innocently starts talking to Bill about Donna, telling him that she has seen her in the company of Stacy, Bill immediately puts the pieces together and understands everything. Sarcastically, Bill immediately runs off to meet Jamie, calling her by her real name, which leaves Donna stunned and devastated, and feeling exposed, she takes it out on Nick. Accused of trying to save face and his job by betraying her and trying to come clean at her expense, an incredulous Nick futilely professes his innocence to a Donna who no longer wants to know anything about him. However, he regrets this rant immediately afterwards when, after confessing to Bill what he already knows, namely that it's not Jamie but Donna, the man reveals to her that it wasn't Bill at all who made him come to the truth. Bill, despite showing himself to be very hurt by Donna's behavior, admits to understanding him as she simply responded with her own coin to what he had done to her. The two, finally face to face alone, let themselves go to passion and make love, before agreeing that it is better to nip their relationship in the bud, Donna being after all even younger than his daughter Caroline. Nevertheless, Donna thanks Bill for what he has managed to give her, namely the belief in herself and the confidence that she can achieve any dream. Finally, Donna asks Bill for one last wish, that of being able to bring her parents Beth and Stephen back to Los Angeles; but the man, strengthened by an agreement with Stephanie that he can't and won't break on his own initiative, refuses to grant it.

1989 (#7) - Brooke's painful miscarriage and the postponement of her wedding to Ridge

Tired of the tensions and constant arguments between Caroline and Brooke, and with Stephanie always ready to interfere, Ridge asks Caroline to make peace with her future with Brooke. However, Caroline, no longer willing to hide her feelings, has no intention of giving up the chance to get back with the love of her life. Convinced that keeping Brooke away for some time would make him forget her and lose his head again, Caroline puts her plan into action; and strengthened by Brooke's secret, that is, the fact that she had hidden the letter in which Ridge professed his feelings for Caroline, she blackmails the woman to leave the villa in the weeks leading up to the wedding. And Brooke, unable to do anything else, is thus forced once again to lower her head and agree. With Ridge all to herself, Caroline begins to take advantage of the time she has available, flirting with him during tennis matches and moments of leisure in the pool of Villa Forrester. And in one of the many moments of intimacy, Caroline confesses to the man that she still loves him and that she is willing to divorce Thorne immediately to return to him. Despite this, Ridge seems determined to go through with his plans with Brooke, until the night before the wedding, Caroline plays her last card: revealing Brooke's secret to Ridge. Enraged, Ridge runs to ask the woman for an explanation; but when he gets to her, he sees what he never wanted to, with Brooke bent over in severe abdominal pain. Brooke was immediately taken to the hospital and treated by Dr. Gordon Heffler, who unfortunately had no choice but to confirm the miscarriage. A Brooke in tears is thus forced to accept an unbridgeable loss; an event that strongly shakes the woman, consoled by a helpless Ridge who assures her that he has forgiven her and still loves her despite everything. To Caroline's delight, the wedding is obviously postponed; but when Brooke is released from the hospital, Ridge imposes himself and demands that she return to live with him at Villa Forrester. Despite this, when she sees Ridge sleeping in the guest room and not in the room with Brooke, Caroline is increasingly convinced that she can win the man back.

1989 (#5) - The gift of Eric and the parade in Kristen's wedding dress

After weeks and weeks of waiting, the big day of the Fall/Winter fashion show is approaching. At the Forrester house, preparations for what is the most important event of the season are in full swing, and all that is left for Eric and Ridge to do is finalize the final details. Meanwhile Clarke, aware that his career is teetering on the brink of disaster because of his deal with Sally, appears more nervous than ever fearing that the woman may discover that the clothes he delivered are the result of his work and do not represent Forrester Originals. On another front, Kristen pushes Eric to show her the dress he would have worn in the finale of the show, but the man refuses, preferring to keep his daughter in the dark for what will represent a real surprise. A restless Sally, anxious to see her models parade on the catwalk, already looking forward to a success both in sales and in the lawsuit she would bring against Forrester for plagiarism, since she has already registered the models that Clarke has given her and, moreover, since Caroline has had them examined by her for Eye on Fashion, decides to participate incognito in the show. The woman orders her extravagant assistant Darla to get her a wig and a disguise in order to pass unnoticed at the security checks; and so, speaking with a German accent, Sally manages to get in, getting assigned a place among the international press officers, ready to enjoy her revenge on the historical rivals of Forrester. The show finally begins and everyone is impressed by the beauty and elegance of the new Forrester collection, including Sally, whose impatience soon turns to nervousness as she can't scroll through any of the models Clarke has given her. In Kristen's dressing room, meanwhile, Thorne unveils in front of Kristen and a proud Eric the top dress he would be wearing in a few moments in the grand finale: a stunning wedding gown. Stunned, Kristen hugs her father, who moved admits that he wanted to make this gift not having had the opportunity to walk by his side in church and take her to the altar in a white dress, a desire that had since Kristen was a child, but there is always a chance to make up for it, on a special occasion like this. A few moments later, the lights in the room are lowered and a moved and excited Kristen so on the catwalk arm in arm of his father, in a unique atmosphere created by the notes of Frank Sinatra, for an unforgettable ending and that leaves everyone enchanted and amazed, from the public to the photographers: even this time, the parade Forrester was an extraordinary success. The only one who is not at all satisfied with what she saw is a literally furious Sally who immediately rushes out of the building ready to shatter Clarke's life. The man, who manages to stop her before she can talk to Kristen and Eric, admits to having given her models that are substitutes and separate from the Forrester Line, models created by himself. The man, however, sure of the validity of his work, manages to convince Sally to wait and wait until the next day before judging him, showing himself certain that after seeing the impressions made by the Spectra fashion show, he will reconsider. And indeed, Clarke was right. The Spectra's show is an extraordinary success as never before, leaving both the press and the insiders positively surprised. A delighted Sally admits to Clarke that she was right, and forgives him by offering him a new deal: to continue designing and working for Spectra in secret, using the false name and pseudonym of "Beau Rivage". Eager to show everyone his talent, and to take revenge on Eric and Ridge who prevent him from emerging and expressing himself at his best, Clarke accepts with enthusiasm.

1989 (#3) - Bill's reaction and Caroline and Storm's investigation in Stud Magazine

Still reeling from the publication of his nude photos, Bill is mocked not only by his business partners Gayle Mahoney, Jack Connors and Frank Rustin, but also by his own personal assistant, Miss Sabrina Crochet. Enraged and determined to do anything to find out who was responsible for the incident, which made him look ridiculous in the eyes of all public opinion, Bill confronts the three managers of Stud Magazine, Walter Talbert, Stan Bentworth and Bernie Stack. And when all three deny tampering with the printing of the magazine's latest issue, Bill fires them all on the spot. Seeing Donna genuinely sorry for what happened, Nick begins to wonder if she's starting to have feelings for the man, which she flatly denies, albeit with some embarrassment. But what worries Nick even more is losing his job if he is found out, feeling that Bill has every intention of finding out who is really responsible. And sensing that the man is now on their trail, Nick decides along with Donna to stage a discussion between them about the difficult situation. But when one of Bill's models, Ramone Bower, notices some strange attitudes on Nick's part and confides it to Bill, the latter begins to realize that Nick might not be the faithful ally he thinks he is; and convinced to find out the truth, he asks a nervous Jamie to spy and keep an eye on Nick. When he discovers that his father is even receiving defamatory letters because of his photos in which they accuse him of immorality and lack of ethics and sense of decency, an impatient Caroline scolds Bill for not suing the editors of Stud Magazine, unaware that the editor is Bill himself. And despite the man's opposition, who tries in every way to make his daughter desist from putting her nose in this matter, Caroline decides to take matters into her own hands and find out who is trying to defame them. A determined Caroline thus confronts Wayne Garfield, the editor-in-chief of Stud Magazine, threatening to sue him for publishing photos of Bill without his explicit permission. But when Wayne Garfield releases himself from his responsibilities, saying that he doesn't know anything about who materially sent the photos to print, as he doesn't have the power to do so, Caroline consults Storm to study other possibilities to find the real people responsible. Storm then explains to Caroline that the only way to find out the truth is to consult the archives of the Washington government office to which every year the actual publishers of each publication must send a statement and find out who the actual owner of Stud Magazine is. With great shock and surprise, Storm thus discovers that Stud Magazine is owned by Bill himself. A shocked Caroline accuses her father of his lack of ethics, but Bill, while admitting that he is not a saint, clears himself of the incident, making his daughter understand that she is under attack by a friendly fire and by one of his close collaborators; a person whom she obviously trusts a lot and who, she promises, she will find out at all costs.

1989 (#1) - Caroline's feelings for Ridge and Brooke's pregnancy

The news of Ridge's marriage proposal to Brooke has deeply shaken Caroline, who can no longer deny that she still has strong feelings for the man. And after months in which the topic has remained taboo, Caroline finally finds the strength to discuss their night of passion with Ridge. The girl acknowledged that although she was drunk, she was fully aware that in her bed with her was Ridge, the only man she has ever truly loved; and who she still loves today. Surprised and enraptured by these words, Ridge makes no declaration of love, but her eyes speak for him. But despite this, Ridge at the same time cannot deny that he now has a very strong bond with Brooke, a woman to whom he wants to remain devoted. And that Ridge has now turned over a new leaf and is more focused than ever on his union with his future wife is certified by the announcement of Brooke herself, fresh from the news of her gynecologist Robert Madigan, that she is expecting a child; news that initially leaves Ridge stunned, shocked at the idea of becoming a father, and then overjoyed. In the meantime, Stephanie, anxious to keep Thorne's marriage intact, informs Caroline of her former friend's pregnant state, urging her to forget Ridge for the sake of their family. This advice is resented by Caroline, who does not look favorably on the future marriage between Brooke and Ridge, even though she is forced to put on a brave face, especially when Thorne happily accepts to be godfather to the unborn child. Meanwhile, Caroline, who does not trust Brooke at all, comes to question Brooke's real pregnancy status, assuming that it is just a ploy to keep Ridge tied to her; Caroline's doubts are also instilled in Ridge, causing Brooke's strong irritation, as she is forced to prove her pregnancy status with certifications from her gynecologist. Soon, however, Ridge manages to make it up to the woman, revealing that his father Eric is already at work designing her wedding dress. But if Eric seems enthusiastic about the idea of the upcoming wedding, Stephanie is not of the same opinion. She doesn't think Brooke is of the same cloth as Caroline and is forced not to oppose the wedding just to avoid conflicts between Ridge and Thorne. And Stephanie's dislike of Brooke is easily explained by the fact that the woman is none other than the daughter of her bitter rival Beth; and it is precisely on Beth that Stephanie and Brooke risk coming to blows, with the Forrester matriarch opposing the presence of the woman at the wedding and Brooke, despite herself, forced to lower her head and exclude her own parents from the guest list. Luckily, Thorne and Donna are there to lift Brooke's spirits. They throw Ridge's bachelor party with a theme night and all the guests dressed as ancient Romans who enjoy watching Ridge and Brooke stage a mud wrestling match.

1988 (#19) - Donna's revenge, nude photos and second thoughts about Bill

When Katie, scandalized, shows her the photos depicting her naked, Donna realizes how Bill's gesture has ruined her life. And determined to get her revenge on the man, Donna promises herself that she would strike back at Bill, hitting him with the same weapons he had hit her with. Using the name of a budding young writer, Jamie Kensinston, Donna, specially made up and wearing a wig so as not to be recognized, approaches Bill with the excuse of wanting to undertake a free internship in publishing; a request that the man accepts without problem, happy to have unpaid staff available. In the meantime, Rocco is determined to avenge Donna, and obviously to impress her, and he won't give up on the girl. The same idea, of course, also has Nick, who can't wait to teach his boss a lesson. Nick and Rocco, having found themselves in a sort of competition for Donna's heart, do not fail to clash and almost come to blows arguing about who is the best and most suitable person to be at Donna's side; however, in the end they decide to work together to achieve their common goal: to humiliate and crush Bill by giving him a piece of cake! Rocco and Nick sneak into a spa where Bill hangs out and take some naked pictures of Bill, and Donna is so enthusiastic that she proposes to publish them in one of her many magazines. Unaware of being framed, meanwhile, Bill asks Jamie aka Donna to write an article for one of his magazines on the subject, dear to her, of the exploitation of the female body. Bill's position, of course, is not essentially the same as Jamie's, with whom he finds himself having more than once a harsh but honest squabble; and while finding his positions far too "feminist", Bill proves to appreciate both Jamie's writing talent and his passion in defending his opinions. Similarly, Donna begins to discover a side of Bill that she never suspected existed, beginning to appreciate his passion for his work, his wisdom and his gentle soul, despite being hidden by a thick impenetrable armor. And so, when Bill proposes to Jamie that she come to work at Spencer, she finds herself more thrilled than ever at the idea of being hired. Later, just as she finds herself fantasizing about Bill, Donna receives a call from two satisfied Rocco and Nick who, unaware of the turmoil twisting the girl's heart, inform her that Bill's nude photos are now being printed and will be published statewide in Stud Magazine the next day. What they don't understand, however, is why an enraged Donna hung up on them after berating them for not warning her and executing the plan without even consulting her. The next morning, when an agitated and distraught Caroline discovers the naked photos of her father, published on the front page of one of their magazines, she immediately contacts Bill to inform him to stop the spread; but it is already too late. A furious Bill, who ironically today is scheduled to receive a prestigious award on the subject of honorability and morality, finds himself swearing revenge against those who have ridiculed him.

1988 (#16) - The brothers' amnesia and Ridge's proposal to Brooke

After a few days of anxiety and worry, Dr. Frank Tucker releases the prognosis on Ridge and the man is finally discharged from the hospital, with the doctors declaring him completely healed and fortunately without any consequences of the incident. Incredibly, both Ridge and Thorne seem to remember absolutely nothing of what happened, as if their brains had completely removed the episode. Stephanie, Caroline and Eric, informed in the meantime by his wife about what really happened, find themselves the only ones who know the truth and decide to keep it hidden, forever, for the good of the family and not to create more tension between the two brothers. The three agree not to talk about the incident anymore, explaining to Ridge that the shooter was probably one of the thugs who had already attacked him months before. If Thorne and Ridge seem to be able to resume their lives normally without any problem, it is Caroline who has strong psychological repercussions, also due to her fragile and kind soul, and who is unable to put the incident behind her by pretending nothing happened. Determined to face the unresolved issues that she has been carrying around for months, Caroline decides to go to therapy with a psychologist, Dr. Dennis Cameron, in search of answers about her true feelings and whether or not she was aware that Ridge was in her bed that night and not Thorne. Distressed by these questions, Caroline, with the help of the psychologist, realizes that she must learn to live not in the constant thought of not having to disappoint others, but in that of doing what will really make her feel good. As the days go by, Caroline begins to realize that Ridge is the only person she wants and should be with, and she begins to think about breaking up her marriage with an unsuspecting Thorne, who is convinced that Caroline is completely devoted to her. But while she seems ready to come to her senses, Ridge, on the other hand, is more and more convinced that Caroline is completely devoted to her brother and that it is time for him to move on. Between Caroline and Brooke, meanwhile, what was once a beautiful friendship has now turned into a conflictual relationship centered on Ridge. And so, when Caroline says that she thinks Ridge would do well to get away from someone as ambiguous in nature as Brooke, Brooke accuses her of being jealous of her relationship with Ridge. Caroline's words, however, do not leave Brooke indifferent, who begins to wonder why Ridge still does not come forward to formalize their union and showing that he wants to throw Caroline behind him for good; nothing more proverbial. A few days later, at the end of a romantic dinner at the exclusive Caffè Russe restaurant, Brooke is overjoyed to find an engagement ring at the bottom of her champagne glass. And so, as happens in the most romantic love stories, Ridge on his knees asks for the hand of his beautiful beloved who, as in a dream, accepts to become Mrs. Forrester.

1988 (#10) - Thorne's rampage and Ridge's injury

While at Forrester, and with Caroline recently gone, Thorne inadvertently finds himself behind Eric's study door listening to his father and mother talk about his marriage. Hearing the conversation, in which Stephanie tells her husband about Ridge's "teenage prank" and the night he accidentally spent with Caroline, Thorne is shocked. For a dazed Thorne, who is still taking painkillers as a result of his appendicitis surgery, the blow is very hard. Desperate, the man decides not to go home and to vent all his bitterness and anger in alcohol. Drunk and not at all lucid, a furious Thorne decides to go and confront Ridge in the middle of the night, reaching him at home and starting to punch him, hurling all kinds of insults at him. The total shock for the betrayal suffered, together with a dangerous combination of alcohol and drugs, make the man crazy and blind with rage to the point of pulling out Stephanie's gun that he hid in his jacket. Awakened by the noises caused by the scuffle, a helpless and horrified Stephanie witnesses the scene, along with her housekeeper Maria Martinez, of Thorne holding his gun and shooting Ridge. Wounded in the shoulder, with the bullet grazing the man's skull, Ridge is immediately rushed to the hospital, where he is sedated and undergoes a delicate bullet removal surgery performed by Dr. Stanley Marley. Stephanie, meanwhile, carefully erases her son's fingerprints from the gun and hides the weapon, which she also legally holds, in order to eliminate any evidence that could incriminate Thorne, who has passed out and fallen into a deep sleep in the meantime. When he wakes up, and Ridge is already in the hospital with the operation over and a desperate Caroline at his side holding his hand, Thorne remembers absolutely nothing of what happened; the same thing, incredibly, that happens to Ridge. Lieutenant Brian Burke, called to investigate the case, quickly dismisses the matter, reducing the suspects to two: Bill and Clarke. When, however, after verifying the irrefutable alibis of the two, Burke and Detective Jake Powers deduce that Thorne is the man they are looking for, Stephanie surprisingly comes forward and confesses to being the culprit, claiming to have thought it was a robbery and mistaking Ridge for a thug. Stephanie is then immediately taken to prison, and precisely in the women's prison under the supervision of Director Ruth Bloom, although Burke is convinced of her innocence because of the nervousness of Mary, who proves to be very capable of lying and withstand the pressure. Soon released from prison for lack of evidence thanks to the intervention of the family's lawyer Mark Adams, Burke and Powers warn Stephanie that they have perfectly understood the truth, urging her to avoid lying anymore and to let justice take its course.

1988 (#8) - Caroline's Eye on Fashion direction and betrayal with Ridge

Although Caroline is married to Thorne, and he is now officially engaged to Brooke, Ridge continues to be tied as if by an invisible thread to Caroline, from whom he cannot and does not want to separate himself. And it is precisely for this reason that, at the end of the Forrester fashion show, Ridge proposes to Caroline to come and work in the family business. Proposal that, ironically, a few hours later is also Thorne and formulate him. Finding herself in obvious embarrassment, and not wanting in any way to fuel the nascent diatribe between the two brothers, Caroline for once decides to follow her father Bill's advice and refuse the offer to go instead to devote herself to the family business, publishing. The powerful Bill, however, continues to look up to his daughter and, in order to see her happy, has reserved for her the position of director of his new and promising project, that of the emerging and already very popular fashion magazine Eye on Fashion. This was an assignment that greatly appealed to Caroline, who was eager and highly motivated to take on this new professional adventure, assisted by art director Valerie Cooper, who soon became her confidante and friend. With the release of the first issue of the magazine, which is a huge success, Caroline decides to have some fun for once, organizing a pool party to celebrate the promising start of her project. However, a very tired Caroline who is not used to having a few too many drinks soon retires to her room before the party is over. And taking advantage of the fact that Thorne is busy making himself a sandwich in the kitchen and exchanging a few moments of goliardia with his friends, Ridge, partly as a joke and partly out of madness, ends up following Caroline to her bed. Here, before a naked and highly embarrassed Ridge can announce his presence, he is engulfed by a lusting Caroline, unaware that it is Ridge and not Thorne presumably due to alcohol. Overwhelmed by desire, Ridge soon finds himself responding to his ex-girlfriend's passion, and so the two end up making love. The next day Caroline, talking to Thorne, who amusedly thinks that the woman has dreamed it all, realizes that she has not made love to her husband; and realizing the whole truth, almost remains breathless with dismay. In the grip of remorse and guilt, Caroline decides to confide everything to Stephanie, who immediately blocks her and makes her desist from her intent to reveal everything to Thorne, sure that if she found out the truth she would be capable of any gesture. Caroline and Ridge, meanwhile, both acknowledge the mistake of that night, declaring themselves bitterly regretful. Ridge reassures Caroline by promising her that he would respect her marriage to her brother, but for Caroline this promise comes too late: the woman in fact, unable to forget what happened, soon finds herself unable to make love with Thorne, who, more and more impatient, pushes his wife to let go. A brief respite, for Caroline, arrives only when Thorne is forced to rest for the recovery of a minor appendicitis operation; but the woman is well aware that she will not be able to put off for long the moment when she will have to come to terms with her ghosts. Ridge, on the other hand, decides to forget the incident by focusing on his relationship with Brooke and asking the woman again to move in with him. This time Brooke, determined not to let her Ridge slip away, accepts without a second thought; all under the eyes of an increasingly thoughtful Caroline, who silently observes Brooke and Ridge sharing happy moments together from her bedroom window.

1988 (#5) - Clarke's talent and success at Kristen's fashion show

Kristen is literally speechless when Clarke shows him some of his work. Impressed by the man's talent and talents, Kristen promises Clarke to show his models to her father; and fearing that his dislike of the man might distort his judgment, she passes them off as her own. And in fact, recognizing a truly remarkable style in those sketches, Eric is very impressed with the models and, proud of the fact that his daughter is the author, immediately promises her that he will make the dresses in time for the next fashion show. In the meantime, Eric himself becomes increasingly skeptical about Clarke, not hiding his fear that the man might hurt Kristen; a thought that unites him with Ridge and Stephanie herself, who begins to regret having pushed an opportunistic person like Clarke into her daughter's arms. But despite the skepticism that surrounds her, and the latent thought of being used by Clarke only in order to become the first designer of Forrester, Kristen continues to strenuously defend her man, claiming her choices the decision to stay with him. After all, even after the warning of Ridge, who warns him not to hurt his sister, is the same Clarke to reassure Kristen that his feelings are really genuine. Meanwhile, the long-awaited day of the Forrester Creations fashion show arrives. Kristen, who has let slip to Stephanie the fact that the real author of the dresses is Clarke, struggles to hide her nervousness, especially after the same Stephanie has not failed to warn Clarke not to reveal for no reason in the world nor to the press nor to Eric the truth about who designed the clothes. Nervousness that, backstage, also leaks out in the relationship between the two increasingly distant Eric and Stephanie as well as between Thorne and Caroline, at their first fashion show as married and with Caroline as press agent who does not fail to be teased by Ridge, who does not forget to remind her of her marriage proposal of a year before. Absolutely annoyed by this attitude is of course Thorne, who sides with his father even with regard to Ridge's proposal, with the latter showing his firm belief that selling their models even in a more commercial environment is an excellent marketing strategy and with Thorne who instead considers this move absurd since it would tarnish the image and the Forrester brand. Despite all these tensions, however, at the end of the show turns out to be as expected a great success, with Kristen acclaimed on stage with a radiant Eric and Clarke enjoying his private moment of glory hidden behind a curtain with Margot. Despite the fact that no one, if anyone, still recognizes his talent, Clarke is perfectly aware that it was only a matter of time before: he would soon reach his goal, that of becoming the most famous and sought-after fashion designer in the world.

1988 (#4) - The foiled attack on Ridge and Rocco's job at Forrester

When Ridge, returning from a business meeting with Caroline, is approached by some thugs with the clear intention of robbing him, it is Rocco, who happened to be passing by, who stops the attack. Caroline, greatly frightened, does not fail to thank the boy, who is praised for his courage by a grateful Ridge, who does not fail to offer him help by offering him a job at Forrester. Initially, Rocco refuses, but soon, realizing the great opportunity he has received, thanks also to Donna who urges him not to miss this opportunity, he contacts Ridge to accept his generous offer. In fact, Donna, knowing of the boy's economic difficulties, is happy that Rocco has secured a position as a warehouseman and dispatcher for Forrester Creations; but at the same time, she cannot deny herself a veil of sadness that she will not be spending much more of her time with him at Griffey's. And just as she feared, this new adventure at Forrester ends up drawing the Woman away from the boy, who is increasingly enthusiastic and excited about this new life. And finding himself in great harmony with Kristen, Rocco ends up having a brief flirtation with the girl, which confirms the fact that he does not feel comfortable and mentally attached to his current girlfriend, Katie. The latter, on the other hand, feels more and more neglected and put aside by the boy, who however continues to have in his heart place only for Donna. At work, meanwhile, Ridge confirms himself as one of Rocco's most ardent supporters, and continues to look up to him and his business sense; in fact, it is Rocco's idea, borrowed by Ridge, to increase the turnover of the family business by starting a mass production of cheaper clothes aimed at a wider audience; this idea is firmly rejected by Eric, who has no intention of altering the brand and the quality of their models, which have always been aimed at an exclusive and high-level clientele.

1988 (#3) - Caroline's doubts and the relationship between Brooke and Ridge

Returning with Thorne from her honeymoon, Caroline feels she has made the right decision and married the only man who can ever make her truly happy. However, when her friend Brooke tells her that she's finally ended her relationship with Dave, who had made one last attempt to get back with her, and has started dating Ridge, the news doesn't seem to faze her. On the surface, Caroline seems fine with this development, but inside, it's clear that there's turmoil afoot. And Caroline's doubts manifest themselves in all their magnitude when, finding herself with Thorne and the couple formed by Ridge and Brooke stranded in the snow at the family chalet in Big Bear, the young woman finds herself wondering, observing some tender moments between Brooke and Ridge, if she had really followed her heart by marrying Thorne. Meanwhile, Brooke finds in Katherine a new and surprising ally, since the woman, increasingly worried by the tensions between the two brothers, is very happy to see Ridge away from Thorne's wife. As time goes by, Caroline's torments instead of subsiding become more acute; and disappointed that even her husband knew and kept her in the dark about Ridge's letter, she decides to break off her friendship with Brooke, accused of playing with her life and her feelings. And determined to respond with the same coin, she offers the woman a choice: break off her relationship with Ridge or prepare to face the man's fury, since if she continued to see him Caroline would tell him the truth about the letter that was never delivered. Terrified at the idea of losing Ridge, Brooke has no choice but to accept, but even though she tries to push him away, her heart can't stop staying by his side, especially now that Ridge is beginning to be more and more taken by the woman, whom he affectionately calls "Logan". And when Ridge proposes that she move in with him, Brooke, who would have liked nothing more, has a hard time refusing the proposal.

1988 (#1) - The marriage between Thorne and Caroline

Unaware of Ridge's true feelings, Caroline tries hard to put behind her all the events that have turned her life upside down over the past year to focus exclusively on preparations for her wedding to Thorne. After all, everyone, especially Brooke and Bill, are thrilled and excited about the couple's upcoming wedding. The only one who has any doubts seems to be Stephanie, who, despite being happy for her son Thorne, begins to suspect that there is something strange about this whole affair. In particular, Stephanie doesn't seem to trust Brooke; and overhearing her conversation with Bill, she finds out about the stolen letter. Determined to deal with the matter, Stephanie corners Brooke informing her that she knows the truth and intimidating her to hand it over to Caroline. Brooke's repayments and guilt eventually get the better of her heart's desire and, on the morning of the wedding itself, she confesses to Caroline that she has something for her to read. Although deeply moved by Ridge's words, however, Caroline now appears determined to marry the person who was able to give her back her smile. And showing no sign of hatred towards the woman, Caroline confirms her willingness to have Brooke at her side as a bridesmaid; ironically, right by Ridge's side, who agrees to be her brother's best man despite the strong disagreements and resentment between the two even though he will not be attending the reception after the ceremony. And so, under the eyes of the conflicting emotions of Ridge and Brooke, Caroline and Thorne declare eternal love, crowning their dream of love. From Kristen to Bill, passing through Eric, everyone is overjoyed by this new beginning, although no one notices a veil of sadness in Caroline's gaze, determined however to honor and keep faith with her wedding vows to Thorne.

1987 (#21) - Margot's complicated love life and involvement with Bill

After years of sleepless nights, emotional crises, and most of all, disappointments, Margot finally understands that it's time to stop living in hopes of seeing a dream come true that will never come true. Thousands and thousands of times she has imagined and daydreamed that Eric would notice her, understand her full and unconditional love, and realize how they were made for each other. But unfortunately for Margot, the only one who has long understood the situation is Stephanie's authoritarian wife, who has repeatedly urged Eric to fire his personal secretary, accused too many times of behaving like a fool and a businesswoman ready to take away the man of her life. But it wasn't the umpteenth scene of Stephanie that opened Margot's eyes; rather, the strong and bitter disappointment represented by the news that Eric was thinking of divorcing Stephanie, but not for her, but to be with Beth. Realizing that for Eric she will never be anything more than his personal secretary, Margot decides to vent all her anger and bitterness with her friend Bill. Bill first advises her to distract herself with Ridge and then, somewhat surprisingly, invites her to dinner. Between Bill and Margot, after all, the harmony has never been a problem and between the two, undoubtedly, there is a feeling. The spark doesn't take long to burst and, soon, the two find themselves in bed together. Mindful of the fact that Bill tried to take Thorne away from Forrester in order to get closer to Caroline, Margot decides not to inform Eric or any other member of the Forrester family of her relationship with Bill. When Bill offers her a job at Spencer Publications, Margot politely declines the offer, not feeling like quitting Forrester, a company that has given her so much and to which she feels very attached professionally. But despite this, the relationship between Bill and Margot becomes stronger and stronger, so much so that it transforms a simple friendship into a real relationship characterized by a great sexual understanding. However, both agree to let their relationship remain an open one, as they don't want to dive into something serious and challenging.

1987 (#20) - The intercepted letter and the engagement between Thorne and Caroline

As the weeks go by, the understanding between Caroline and Thorne grows more and more. The kind ways of Thorne, a man who is certainly more introverted and affectionate than his brother, impress the girl a lot, who slowly regains, thanks to Thorne, the trust she had lost in men. Discovering Caroline's inner beauty, however, Thorne realizes how naive and foolish his brother has been to let a woman like Caroline get away, convincing himself more and more that Ridge does not deserve her. Obviously delighted that Caroline is dating Thorne, a man much more suited to his daughter than Ridge, is Bill, who even offers the man a prominent position within Spencer Publications; an offer, however, that Thorne, also at Caroline's suggestion and urging, refuses. Bill's attitude certainly doesn't please Stephanie, who repeatedly begs her old friend to stop pitting his two sons against each other, who are now in open competition for Caroline's heart. On one side is Ridge, who sends roses to his beloved, and on the other is Thorne, who confesses to Caroline that he is beginning to have feelings for her. In the end, it is Thorne who gets to prevail over his brother, thanks to the fact that he is able to provide more security to a still fragile Caroline. And Ridge, seeing them kissing, decides to say goodbye to his beloved, writing her a farewell letter in which he writes that he is happy for her and for Thorne, declaring himself ready to move on with his life. Ridge starts dating a very happy Brooke, but it is clear that he still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend. And when in a moment of weakness he decides to retrace his steps and confess all his love to Caroline, Ridge is convinced of the need to write a second letter to Caroline. What Ridge doesn't know, however, is that Brooke, in agreement with Thorne, intercepts the letter; both convinced that it would have marked the end of their respective relationships, in fact, Thorne and Brooke enter into some sort of alliance or agreement to keep Caroline and Ridge apart, well aware that it would take very little to tear their respective relationships apart. A few days later, Thorne asks Caroline to marry him, and Caroline, unaware of Ridge's letter, accepts the proposal; this news throws Ridge into despair and makes Brooke and Thorne excited.

1987 (#17) - Bill's meddling and Margot's attempts to seduce Ridge

Concerned by Caroline's second thoughts and determined to make sure that his daughter doesn't repeat her mistakes by getting back with Ridge, Bill decides to exploit his confidence with Margot to convince her to seduce his former flame Ridge in order to get him away from Caroline for good. However, every attempt by the woman, who has now put aside her feelings for Eric, seem in vain; indeed, they only bring Caroline closer to Ridge, who even manages to snatch a kiss from her. And even an invitation from Ridge to accompany him to Switzerland for a series of business meetings, which leads both Bill and Margot to believe that they are on the verge of achieving their goals, turns out to be nothing more than a simple attempt by Ridge to make it clear that there can never be anything between them and to find out if this sudden interest of the woman's was genuine or was instead engineered by someone else to keep him away from Caroline. Realizing the failure of this move, and fearing that Ridge might suspect and discover his role in this attempt at seduction by Margot, Bill has no choice but to abort this plan of his, but swears to himself that he would never, ever allow Ridge to take his daughter away from him.
